Akashi-Tai sakes are the fruit of the quest for excellence undertaken by the Akashi Sake Brewery. This family-run brewery has been based in the port city of Akashi since 1856.
The Akashi Brewery was founded by the Yonezawa family in 1856, in the small port city of Akashi, a coastal town in southwest Japan near Kobe and Osaka. It is located in the Hyogo prefecture, one of Japan’s most renowned sake producing
regions. Famous for its fish market that dates back around 400 years, Akashi’s icon is the sea bream (“tai”). This fish stands for resilience and strength of character, and has become the lucky symbol of Akashi-Tai (“Akashi sea bream”).
